Kenya Herpetology Tours
Kenya Herping Safaris
We are a herping safari company based in Nairobi, Kenya. We offer herpetology trips around Kenya, visiting all locations and habitats in the country. We also offer day herping tours in Nairobi. Our goal is to help every passionate herpetologist enjoy the vast diversity of reptiles and amphibians in Kenya, a gateway to African herpetology.
Kenya hosts over 120 species of amphibians and over 300 species of reptiles. There are 147 Snakes, 140 Lizards, 5 Sea or Marine Turtles, 5 Land Tortoises, 7 Terrapins or Fresh Water Turtles and 1 Crocodile species, in the country. This diversity is highly attributed to the vast ecosystems available in the country. These ecosystems include the Coastal Forests of Arabuko Sokoke, Dakatcha Woodland and Shimba Hills; Savannahs like Masai Mara; Drylands like Samburu National Reserve, Buffalo Springs National Reserve, Shaba National Reserve, Tsavo East and Tsavo West National Park; True Deserts like Chalbi and Dida Galgallu; Rivers like Tana River and Athi-Galana-Sabaki River; Lakes like Lake Naivasha, Lake Turkana and Lake Baringo; Highland Forests like Aberdare National Park, Mt. Elgon, Mau Escarpment Forest and Mt. Kenya; to Equatorial Rainforests like Kakamega and South Nandi.
On our Kenya Herpetology Tours and Safaris, we explore these ecosystems with a team of herpetology experts who have worked in the country for decades and who understand the local species of amphibians and reptiles in amazing detail. A huge list is guaranteed, but the most exciting part is that this tour is likely to open new knowledge on the taxonomy and Biology of some of the taxa we shall encounter. This is because East African Herpetology is at its peak in this decade; with new species being discovered and described each year.
