The company was founded by Washington Wachira, a leading Kenyan Animal Ecologist, who did his PhD on the Biogeography of Reptiles in Kenya. Washington has been a passionate herpetologist his entire life. He served as the Chairperson of the Kenya Herpetofauna Working Group; before joining the training team at the annual Biology of Amphibians and Reptiles Course. He has led many reptile and amphibian studies. Some of these expeditions have added new knowledge to the herpetology field in East Africa. His discoveries include new regional records for different species and new range extensions. He has a keen eye for new species and has a lizard species named after him (Marsabit Rock Agama Agama wachirai).
